Privacy policy

Last updated 5 August 2026

This policy covers jascapp.com, the JASC desktop application, and JASC Cloud. It is written to be read rather than to be impressive, so the short version is first.

JASC Desktop

Your business data — clients, quotes, jobs, invoices, notes — is stored in an encrypted .jasc file on your own computer. It is not uploaded to us, and we have no way to read it. Backing that file up is your responsibility.

The desktop app contacts our licence service only to check that you are entitled to use it. Those requests contain:

  • A business identifier and a device identifier generated by the app
  • Your licence key, when you activate one
  • Trial start and expiry dates

That is enough to enforce the 30-day trial and the 5-device limit, and no more. If you use the app offline it continues to work through a grace period without contacting us at all.

JASC Cloud

The hosted version necessarily stores the data you enter — clients, quotes, jobs, invoices — on our servers, along with your account details (email address and business name) used to sign in.

Where it is stored: our servers are operated by Hetzner Online GmbH and are physically located in Finland. If you are an Australian customer, this means your information is stored and processed overseas. By using JASC Cloud you consent to that disclosure. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use the contents of your account for anything other than running the service for you.

This website

  • Google Analytics (GA4) — page views and basic usage, to see which pages are useful. This sets cookies. You can block it with any tracker-blocking extension or browser setting and the site works normally.
  • Cloudflare — sits in front of the site for delivery and security, and processes request data such as your IP address in doing so.
  • The free tools at /tools run entirely in your browser. Anything you type into the GST calculator, invoice generator or quote template stays on your device — it is saved to your browser's local storage so you can come back to it, and it is never transmitted to us. Clearing it removes it.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's own checkout and never reach our servers. We receive the outcome of the payment, your email address, and the order details needed to issue your licence or start your subscription. Stripe's handling of your information is covered by their privacy policy.

Email

We email you licence keys, receipts and service notices — these are part of the product, not marketing. Email is sent through our own mail server at mail.jascapp.com. We do not add you to a marketing list as a condition of purchase.

How long we keep things

  • Licence and order records — kept while the licence is valid, and afterwards as long as needed for tax and accounting obligations.
  • Cloud account data — kept while your subscription is active. Ask us to delete it after you cancel and we will.
  • Desktop business data — we never have it, so there is nothing for us to delete.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email hello@jascapp.com and we will respond within a reasonable period. If you are unhappy with how we have handled a privacy matter you can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes affecting cloud customers will also be emailed.
